Role

  • Responsible for driving, coordinating, supervising and facilitating the work processes of Java teams.
  • Actively leading and participating in the solution creation, effort estimation, development, and project implementation.
  • Involved in strategic and sprint planning, daily standups, demos, and scoping of releases.
  • Set SMART objectives for each team member that align with the team and organizational goals.
  • Create, maintain, improve and provide needed resources to enable team members to do their work.
  • Ensure efficient inter-team communication and disseminate information coming from outside the group.
  • Create informative and accurate reports and ensure their distribution to interested management.
  • Adhere to Garmin Engineering SOPs and Processes.
  • Demonstrate broad understanding of Garmin’s business model, including operations, production, sales and marketing.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency and necessary experience in designing, enhancing and developing complex Java applications with Spring framework (5+ years).
  • 2+ years of experience in leading software engineering teams.
  • Solid abilities in organizing, planning, and prioritizing work.
  • Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes.
  • Ability to being a change agent.
  • Ability to solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrate mentoring experience in helping team members tailor their careers.
  • Demonstrate strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good English skills, verbal and written.
  • Good knowledge of relational databases.
  • Knowledge or passion to learn about the monitoring tools used to ensure the stability of our systems: AppDynamics, Uptrends, ELK stack.
