Role
The mission
As part of the development towards a “Next Generation Digital Banking Platform”, ING is renewing the data management capabilities globally. The Tribe Data Management realises, as part of the “Unite programme”, an integrated data management platform for the Dutch and Belgian organisations: the “Unite Data Lake”.
The members of the Tribe are in The Netherlands, Belgium and Romania.
Your day to day
As a Platform engineer you will be working in a scrum Platform squad of 6 - 8 Platform engineers. In addition, there will be a Product Owner who decides on the priority of the user stories. The squad is responsible for maintaining and securing the Data lake Distribution Portal (DDP) which handles all batch and stream traffic for our Tribe Data Management. The DDP currently is a mix of in-house built application, Apache Flume and Apache NiFi, all based on Linux hosts.
You will be responsible for:
- Developing, configuring, and maintaining production application infrastructure components
- Daily Operations tasks (incoming requests and incidents) regarding DDP maintenance and performance
- Monitoring data pipelines and ensuring the system availability
- Keeping the Platform safe and secure in regards with Compliance and Risk
- Continuously improving the data management services by automating recurrent activities
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in an enterprise Linux environment (Red Hat preferred)
- Experience with GIT & CI/CD principles
- Experience in both OPS and DEV work
- Experience with: Bash-scripting, Groovy
- Knowledge about unit tests, static/dynamic code scanning, artifact management
- Awareness about Risk within software development / network environment
- Knowledge of virtualization and networking concepts
- Problem solving skills to structure and improve complex situations
- End-to-end ownership mindset
- The mentality of continuous improvement of the service and way of working
- Proficient in English (verbal and writing)
Nice to have:
- Experience with Apache NiFi
- Experience with Python Scripting
- Experience with API development
- Experience with Data Warehouse implementations and ETL processing
- Experience with Agile way of working
