Role
The mission
As part of the development towards a “Next Generation Digital Banking Platform”, ING is renewing the data management capabilities globally. The Tribe Data Management realises, as part of the “Unite programme”, an integrated data management platform for the Dutch and Belgian organisations: the “Unite Data Lake”.
The members of the Tribe are in The Netherlands, Belgium and Romania.
Your day to day
As an Oracle Exadata engineer you will be working in a scrum Platform squad of 6 - 8 Platform engineers. In addition, there will be a Product Owner who decides on the priority of the user stories. The squad is responsible for the migration strategy of Unite Data Lake from IBM PDA/Netezza database appliance to Oracle Exadata. You will be involved in supporting the new platform on the operational side but also in the migration of teams and their data from IBM PDA/Netezza to the new Exadata platform. Risk work, answering questions and performance tuning is a big part of your day.
You will be responsible for:
- Migrating data from IBM PDA/Netezza to Oracle Exadata, including data validation and remodelling for performance tuning
- Understand the workload of the Exadata databases triggered by different ETL or Reporting processes
- Make proposals of design changes for ETL jobs to improve the overall performance
- Daily Operations related tasks (incoming requests and incidents)
- Keep the Platform safe and secure with regards of Compliance and Risk
- Continuously improve the data management services by automating recurrent activities
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- At least 3 years of experience as Oracle DB expert/specialist
- Wide experience with performance tuning on Oracle Exadata
- Excellent knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience with Data Warehouse implementations and ETL processing
- Understanding of Data Warehouse / Data Lake concepts
- Strong knowledge in Linux and shell scripting
- Proficient in English (verbal and writing)
- Willingness to work on a regular base outside office hours (standby with a frequency of 1 week per 8 weeks, occasionally Patching and Disaster Recovery)
Nice to have:
- Other database experience (For example IBM PDA/Netezza, DB2, Postgres)
- IBM Cognos or similar reporting tools
- Experience with Agile way of working
