Role
The Mission:
As part of the development towards a “Next Generation Digital Banking Platform”, ING is renewing the data management capabilities globally. The Tribe Data Management realises, as part of the “Unite programme”, an integrated data management platform for the Dutch and Belgian organisations: the “Unite data lake”. This is an ambitious implementation based on state of the art technology. We provide data to important consumers like Finance, Risk, Analytics and ING Group, therefore the cross-border Tribe Data Management fulfils a crucial role for all Tribes in the Netherlands and Belgium. The members of the Tribe are in The Netherlands, Belgium and Romania.
Your Day-to-Day:
As a Platform engineer you will be working in a scrum Platform squad of 6 - 8 Platform engineers. In addition, there will be a Product Owner who decides on the priority of the user stories. The squad is responsible for maintaining and securing the IBM Infosphere Information Server, IBM WebSphere, the IBM PureData for Analytics (Netezza), Oracle Exadata, IBM Cognos, Citrix, Linux.
You will be responsible for:
- Daily Operations tasks (incoming requests and incidents) regarding PDA (Netezza) maintenance and performance
- Backup & Restore strategy
- PDA (Netezza) performance monitoring
- Migrating data from Netezza to Oracle Exadata and vice versa, including data remodelling
- Delivering the data management Platform as a service
- Keep the Platform safe and secure with regards of Compliance and Risk
- Continuously improve the data management services by automating recurrent activities
- Bridge between Platform squad and Content squads
Requirements
We are looking for someone with:
- At least 3 years of experience as a Platform or Operations engineer in similar environments
- PDA (Netezza) DB administration
- Strong knowledge in Linux
- Experience working in large and complex environments
- Automation mindset
- Willingness to work on a regular base outside office hours (standby with a frequency of 1 week per 8 weeks, occasionally Patching and Disaster Recovery)
- Proficient in English (verbal and writing)
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to communicate with different types of stakeholders (PO’s, Engineers, Architects, Senior management)
Nice to have:
- Understanding of Agile - Scrum methodology
- Other DBA experience (For example Oracle, DB2, Postgres)
- Oracle Exadata experience
- Experience with ETL tools – IBM InfoSphere preferably
- Understanding of data warehouse / data lake concepts
- Experience with Cognos or similar as a reporting tool
- Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash
